Program Notes:

Internal is an attempt to be a little more direct with my music. It features three ideas that are first harshly or abruptly juxtaposed, and that are finally woven together into a larger texture. The melodic and harmonic materials are derived from two competing hexachords that are themselves derived mostly from a mixture of perfect fourths and tritones. The piece represents personal elements, but I fear the specifics, being personal, will remain mysterious.

This piece was commissioned by the Contemporary Enclave in Thailand.
